MR44 is off in Japan again, and he’s sharing lots of great photos each day. I haven’t been in years so I’m really enjoying these. This is the most recent post as of today, if you want to work backwards through them all.

* 9 LA Bands to Watch – Or Listen to

Posted on March 30th, 2010 by John. Filed under Los Angeles, Music, Siteseeing.

I’ve always thought that Yasi Salek is one of the most gifted writers I know, and I’m really happy to see the people at Huffington Post were smart enough to sign her up to write for them. Very impressive. Her first post for them is about 9 LA bands worth watching or listening to.

* WellDone

Posted on March 29th, 2010 by John. Filed under Clothing, Design, Siteseeing.

Tee designers and purveyors Chop Shop have teamed up with WellDone, an organization dedicated to raising funds to supply West African towns with pumps or clean drinking water. The info-graphic design highlights 27 statistics about the global water crisis and is available for both men and women. My old friends at Quist Industries in Brooklyn generously provided the printing for this project. This isn’t the first time I’ve seen tees being sold to raise money for water pumps in Africa, and hopefully it’s not the last. Via Design You Trust.

The highly accomplished Angeleno artist Patrick Martinez sent me a link to this time-lapse video which compresses three weeks of hard work into four minutes, with a Jay Electronica beat in the background for good measure. Acclaim Magazine featured a great interview with him, which you can read here. Scroll down to see the completed work.
