TSOTW: Sprinkle Me Mane

This week’s T-Shirt Of The Week is this meme-driven wonder from Los Angeles-based brand BTLG. It deftly mashes up the slightly disturbing Instagram phenomenon that is #SaltBae – a chef who lovingly caresses his meats (that is not a dirty joke, btw) and got famous for flamboyantly sprinkling some salt. BTLG have combined that with the equally famous E-40 line, “Sprinkle me, mane.” Get it at Hutch.

TSOTW: LA Zooo

The merch that accompanied Bei Ru‘s latest album LA Zooo is just outstanding – I love how it subversively plays on the theme of Zoo Staff gear gone bad. Look closely, the penguin’s got a switchblade. Watch your pockets! Available in Bei Ru’s online store and also via my friends at Hutch LA.

TSOTW: Champion Sound

T-Shirt of the Week this week is this beauty from Selector – both an homage to classic sporting goods, and, more importantly, sound system culture, which started in Jamaica, and has spread around the world.

TSOTW: Kapache | AX Tee

This week’s T-Shirt of the Week is by my talented friend Kaplan a/k/a Kapache, in collaboration with Kauai-based label Aloha Exchange. Aside from looking amazing, proceeds from this design go towards the family of Lucas Makana Riley – a young man from Hawaii who was killed in a collision with a drunk driver. Available for both men and women.

TSOTW: NO DAPL

For this week’s installment of T-Shirt of the Week, I nominate this beauty from accomplished Los Angeles artist Patrick Martinez. Patrick has a history of speaking out on social and civil rights issues, and this time, he stands strong with the Standing Rock Souix, and the other tribes and protesters heading up the NoDAPL movement, which is in opposition to the proposed/ongoing construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline, which would run from oil fields in North Dakota, down to the Mississippi, and which would potentially threaten the drinking water of several tribes whose land it would cross. The Army Corp of Engineers has all but ignored the concerns of the local tribes people, and so a large protest movement has grown around the issue. These tees are currently free for protestors, and not available for sale. #NoDAPL

TSOTW: SC.R.E.A.M.

For this very special, one-day-late installment of T-Shirt of the Week, Halloween edition, I nominate this new bootleg concert tee from the good people at DRTY. Wu-Tang fans will no doubt recognize the riff on a) Enter the 36 Chambers cover art and b) the mask from the Scream movie series. Get the paper! More info here.
