For Pete’s Sake is an excellent album by UK musician/producer/engineer Mr. Chop, featuring his excellent instrumental covers of various beats by the highly-esteemed hip-hop producer Pete Rock. While this may sound remarkably like the definition of muzak, it’s actually really funky and highly enjoyable and you can tell the musicians have chops (sorry). It reminds me of some of the best parts of acid jazz. Remember that whole thing? You can read more and listen to one of the songs here, and you can purchase the album on vinyl/CD/mp3 here.
