I loved Oh No’s 2007 LP Dr. No’s Oxperiment, which was an instrumental hip-hop excursion transported on the back of samples from Turkish, Lebanese, Italian, and Greek psychedelic rock. So I was excited to get my hands on the latest from Oh No recently, Dr. No’s Ethiopium, which was created entirely using samples from Ethiopian music. It’s really great. You can buy it here and you can read more & listen to a sample mp3 here (well worth checking out). And you’ll definitely want to carry this with you if you’re ever hiking through Ethiopia, as the liner notes unfold into a detailed map of the country. Another Jeff Jank masterpiece, packaging-wise.
