Paris, Line by Line is a beautiful new title from Universe, which follows on the success of Robinson’s previous 2009 release, New York, Line by Line. Both titles are actually reprinted vintage gems, originally published in the 1960’s; the result of German artist Robinson’s travel-inspired art. Born Werner Kruse, Robinson was best known for his signature pen & ink style, on full display in this excellent hardcover, and passed away in 1994, at age 83. It’s been a very long time since I’ve visited Paris, but I must say this book really manages to capture some of the city’s magic; its somewhat overwhelming architectural beauty & urban verve. He also produced books on Tokyo and Moscow, which I’d absolutely love to see at some point. All in all, an impressive reprinted vintage artist title, fresh out from the good people at Universe.
