If you’re a fan of Sonic Youth, then Kim Gordon needs no introduction. She sings and plays bass and guitar in the wildly popular avant-garde rock band which formed in NYC in 1981. Aside from being an accomplished musician, she’s also an accomplished artist & curator, who graduated from Otis here in LA, wrote for Artforum, and has exhibited her work around the country and around the world. This great new hardcover book from Rizzoli, Kim Gordon Performance/Guzzling documents a series of her watercolors, inspired by the view of the audience from on stage – not something everyone gets to experience. Much as it must be from that perspective, you can see faces mixed in with the dreamy blurring splashes of color. The first printing of the book is limited to 3000 copies and includes a signed print by the artist. Hardcover / 8.75″ x 11.75″ / 144 pages / 140 color and b&w illustrations. Out this April.
