Check out this short video with Flea, the legendary bassist from Red Hot Chili Peppers. It describes the Silverlake Conservatory of Music, which he helped found 11 years ago. They do great things to keep music education alive here in Los Angeles, including quite a lot of full scholarships. Seems like a great cause, and they are currently raising funds in the hopes of expanding the operation into a much larger building. There’s an auction with contributions from the likes of Damien Hirst and Takashi Murakami. The video was produced by MOCAtv. Incidentally, if you subscribe to their Youtube channel, you get a free 3 month membership to the museum. Via FRESHNGOOD.
