T-Files 049: Never Made

I’m happy to present the latest T-Files interview with accomplished Angeleno artist Francisco Reyes Jr., a/k/a Never Made. Francisco is an accomplished artist/illustrator, and he also works at Studio Number One, alongside talent like Shepard Fairey and, formerly, Cleon Peterson. With Never Made, Francisco presents his creative vision across a wide range of items, including lapel pins, T-Shirts, sculptures, and limited edition screen prints. He has also worked with brands like REBEL8, Hurley, Primitive Skateboards, Epitaph, Hellcat Records and Urban Outfitters. Big thanks to our mutual friend Eddie Zammit, Melbourne’s own tee game Godfather, for connecting us earlier in the year. I’ve really enjoyed following Francisco’s art and design work, and was eager to learn more. [Read More]

Sam Rodriguez in Kobe

Here’s a great photo of the brand new Sam Rodriguez mural painted in Kobe, Japan, during this year’s POW! WOW! Japan mural festival. Epic stuff. Still can’t quite believe much of this event went down at my old high school there. Small world! Photo by Brandon Shigeta.

Aaron De La Cruz x Sam Rodriguez

Two of my favorite artists recently collaborated for the very first time, which is kind of surprising when you consider what great friends they are. Of course when Aaron De La Cruz (interviewed) and Sam Rodriguez (interviewed) finally decided to combine forces, the result was nothing short of impressive. A great new mural addition to SF’s Excelsior neighborhood. Find it at the corner of Mission St. & Onondaga Ave. Photos by Kenneth Berling-Orozco. [View Gallery]

Born Goofy

Talented Australian artist Paul McNeil (interviewed – albeit some time back now) has a solo exhibition of new paintings opening at Mollusk in San Francisco this Saturday. More info here. Hoping it travels to Mollusk in Venice next!

TSOTW: Scully

This week’s T-shirt of the Week is this slightly older graphic tee from Work Clothing, which pays tribute to Los Angeles sports broadcasting legend Vin Scully, who has famously had 67 seasons as the play-by-play announcer for the Dodgers. His final home game was on September 25th, just a few days ago. Currently available from the good people at Hutch LA.
