Life magazine’s massive photo archive (which apparently goes back to the 1750s, or so they claim) was just made public online yesterday when they completed a deal with Google to host everything online. Time (who own Google) have made the photos available for free for personal and research purposes. If you aren’t excited yet, we’re talking about 10 million images, about 97% of which have never been printed publicly according to someone who is clearly very good at counting. Only 20% of the archive have been posted so far with more soon, but even so, 20% of 10 million is a lot of photos. Via C-Monster.
