We Gonna Rock Down to Electric Avenue…

Another weekend, which means I’ve got more second-rate iPhone pics of local street art from my early morning stroll around Venice! I spotted this big Buddha poster, wheatpasted over what was a very short-lived Buffmonster mural on Electric Avenue. I don’t know who did it, but I like it! The line work is great, and the geometric pattern in the background is pretty fancy too. It has left-facing swastikas incorporated into the pattern, and it’s important to note that, as many people are aware, the symbol comes from Sanskrit and was used as a religious symbol in India and throughout much of Asia, a long time before Nazism gave it a bad name…

On the way home I found another smaller one on yellow paper, just off of Abbot-Kinney, and funnily enough my buddy ABCNT has gone over it with one of his incendiary “Kill Bill O’Reilly” posters, which cleverly combines elements from the Kill Bill movie poster design with conservative talk show host, and fulltime scumbag, Bill O’Reilly:

Next to that, there’s this poster for the “Pacific Dissent Company.” I don’t know what that is, but I like the sound of it!
